I heard that walking in water burns 200 calories burned per 30 mins?why so.

it probably depends how rapidly and stuff but it is since of the resistance the water gives :)

    Usually, people walking in water are overweight and obese.
    It’s a great exercise if you want to reduce the stress on your joints, bones and muscles and still be challenged by water which offers great resistance.

    To burn 200 calories in 30 minutes, you would have to weigh about 220 pounds.

    If you take the weight and multiply by 0.9, you’ll get the calorie expenditure for 30 minutes, so a 300lbs person would burn 270 calories in 30 minutes.

  2. Very interesting idea, walking in water would burn more calories per minute because of the resistance, but I’d question how maintainable it is.

    I can’t really imagine many situations where you could walk for 1 hour in water unless you’re wading along the share line. So while over a 5 minute period it might burn more calories in water than not, in the long run you’ll burn far many more calories just stepping out your front door and going for a normal walk.
