Nails are the tell-tale signs of the persona – did you know that! However, considering the nature of our work and the components of our diet, we may not be ‘feeding’ our nails with the right nutrients. You don’t have to spend exorbitant amounts for manicures or synthetic nail remedies, though you could give yourself a good manicure once in a while.

Look at the natural remedies all around! In the vegetable and fruit kingdom you will find peels and rinds so very useful in the endeavor. All you need to do is look! Simple things work; you don’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars to benefit from good, strong nails. Dry and brittle nails, or yellowed nails, need to be soaked in warm olive oil every day for 10 to 20 minutes. Toe nails should be clipped straight. Finger nails should be shortened by filing with an emery board. File only in one direction.

Pollutants have a harmful effect on our skin. The sudden appearance of red blotches, rash or even the development of dry skin in and around the chin area, elbows and knees are all the result of this exposure. The problem can be temporarily dealt with, with the help of chemical concoctions available in cosmetic and pill forms.

However, these topical and oral applications address the problem only superficially. If you want to root out a skin problem it pays good dividend to look for a long term solution – a natural herbal solution that could come out of your own kitchen!

Skin problems arise due to either dry skin, or oily skin. The causes are air pollution, exposure to sunlight, infections from microorganisms, insect bites, and change in weather, detergents and poor quality cosmetics. Ensure that your diet contains all the nutrients in the right proportions including enough roughage. Once a week go in for a detox.
